Education/Certification:
You must have RN/LVN/Nurse Aide Certification
OR Currently attending school to be an RN/LVN/NURSE Aide
OR High School Diploma/GED with formal medical training
Primary Purpose:
To provide school health services in the absence of campus clinic staff.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate ill and injured children and communicate with parents as needed
- Administer First Aid, CPR, or AED as needed
- Administer medication as prescribed and in compliance with State law and District policy
- Follow students' medical protocol
- Comply with all Nursing Practice Act regulations
- Manage student behavior
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain extreme degree of confidentiality by following the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for student information and by following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) for employee and student information
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Fingerprinting is required if not previously completed
- Follow care plans for students
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- CPR Certification preferred, however not required
