This position is federally funded through Title III.
This position will be on a 192 workday calendar.
Primary Purpose:
To perform a variety of duties and responsibilities involved in assisting in educational programs including providing instructional assistance to ESL students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities to meet the educational needs of ESL students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills
Ability to operate a personal computer and educational software
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of general-purpose and goals of education
Ability to Learn instructional terminology, program philosophies, concepts, materials, methods, and procedures.
Bilingual (Spanish)
Experience:
Some instructional assistant experience with children desirable
