Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district. Service and perform preventative maintenance on residential light and heavy commercial heating and cooling equipment, including chilled water, centrifugal, flowtronic, digital controls, and hot water reheat systems. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC/R systems in district facilities.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license
Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license or technician certification
Have EPA Certification (Universal)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Knowledge of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration principles, practices, and equipment.
Knowledge of safety precautions used in cooling and heating equipment.
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment.
Knowledge in the handling of chlorofluorocarbons for recovery and recycling.
Skill in installing, servicing, and repairing all brands of residential/light and heavy commercial heating and air conditioning equipment systems.
Skill in operating hand and complex tools.
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and manuals.
Skill in performing preventative maintenance on residential/light/heavy commercial equipment of early to late vintage schools.
Skill in troubleshooting problems in mechanical systems and recommend corrective actions.
Skill in using hazardous chemicals.
Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities.

Experience:
Five years’ experience in HVAC field

2 years verifiable experience in low temp/refrigeration

2 years verifiable experience in kitchen equipment

Preferred Experience:
-Experience servicing the following types of equipment: Walk-in Coolers/Freezers, Supermarket Low Temp Cases, Walk-in/Reach-In Freezers/Coolers, Ice Machines, Commercial Food Service Equipment, Heat Pumps, Air Conditioners, Packaged Rooftop Units, Air Handlers, and Exhaust Fans.
-NATE and/or Master Heat Pump certification a plus
-Experience with School Dude work order software and ALC controls.
