Primary Responsibility:
Operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe, efficient transportation of students, and other authorized persons on assigned route, to and from respective campuses and other designated locations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B); or must be willing to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be 18 years of age
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses
Ability to manage student behavior
Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to operate bus
Major Responsibilities:
Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
Identifies, by name, students riding the bus.
Drives all routes as designated.
Identifies and reports, to school principal, students involved in disciplinary situations. Performs basic checkout and emergency procedures.
Provides staff with reports as requested.
Completes written reports and discusses with supervisors all accidents, vehicle damage and student injury situations.
Regularly requests all vehicle maintenance and repair.
Attends in-service training programs and annual driver workshop.
Instructs students on bus of riding rules and regulations
Experience:
Two years' experience working with children Current and valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or willing to obtain a CDL, and Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
Minimum of six years general driving experience preferred. |
