Primary Purpose:

Ride bus and assist school bus driver to ensure safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

Education:

Completion of sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions. 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of transportation behavior standards

Knowledge of first aid

Knowledge of use of bus equipment

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Monitor and manage student behavior

Assist in loading/unloading special need student

Secure students on bus with seat belts, harnesses, wheelchair straps and car seats

Maintain required seating charts and incident notebook

Assist in pre-trip procedures

Become familiar with and follow all safety, security, and emergency procedures 

Assist students to physically evacuate the bus in an emergency

Help keep bus clean

Perform other job related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Mental and Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, etc.

Heavy lifting up to 80 pounds

Exposure to adverse weather conditions, vehicle exhaust, loud noise

Exposure to uncooperative students, bacteria and communicable diseases.
